Objective


My objective is to land in a career or college internship that will immerse me into the field of professional software engineering.

I am privileged to be learning what I love, and my hope is that being surrounded by experts and like-minded individuals will assist me in developing my coding skills, extra-curricular projects, and job experiences.

Ultimately, the ideal position will prepare me for a career in development and design. My ambitions are focused on gaining the experience to provide elegant solutions for the end-user, while maintaining a best-practice back-end that is well-styled, efficient, and well documented.

Achievements


  • In 2011 participated in ACM hosted ICPC Programing Competition.  In 2012 took 2nd in locals, qualifying for Regionals in October.
  • Working closely with a Professor in the Economics department on a web development contract.
  • Currently holds the Webmaster officer position in the UA Webcats website development club.
  • Competed in a local Hack-a-thon with a team to create Pyre, a student-sourced asynchronous course guide, within 24 hours.
  • Through the Boy Scouts of America, achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.
  • Currently managing a small business tutoring pre-business majors in course MIS111.

iPlant Collaborative

Intern Software Engineer | May 2011 - Ongoing
  • Learned many technologies to get up to speed to contribute to this open-source research initiative, such as Git, Clojure, distributed datastores, and RESTful services.
  • Implemented genome reference metadata schema for iPlants flagship product, the Discovery Environment
  • Began and am currently working on Chinstrap, a data aggregation front-end for the Discovery Environment’s many service back-ends. Chinstrap is written using a Clojure web framework called Noir.

  • This position began as a full-time Summer internship and has evolved to be a part-time full-year job.

Campus Representative | June 2010 - Ongoing
  • Duties include schedule management, efficient social networking, budget management, event supervising, and generating event reports to send back to EA. Responsible for finding, training, and supervising interns under me.
  • Responsible for coming up with creative new ways of communicating to a select target audience, (college students), with the focus of receiving maximum exposure, and attendance for these events. Responsible for generating positive PR for Electronic Arts, and their subsidiaries around the University of Arizona Campus.

  • Responsible for assisting research for commercial real estate appraisal reports. Compiling, and professionally formatting data for client job reports.
  • Physically inspecting, and observing properties. Contacting financial institutions for sales data, and necessary information. Analyzing prior sales data.
  • Contacting public officials, such as Assessor's offices, and county recording offices.
  • Learning tax law, parcel lots, topology, zoning requirements, GIS systems, real estate markets, value appraisal, municipal systems, how to manage office space, working together with co-workers, and professionalism.

  • Assisting the Campus Liaison, Jared Mosley, with hosting Electronic Arts product demonstrations, and other events.
  • Promoting EA products and events, utilizing networking and social skills.
  • Assumed the role of Campus Representative when Jared Mosley, the previous Campus Representative graduated.

Seasonal Computer Specialist | October 2008 to January 2009
  • A seasonal sales position that required knowledge of computers and other electronic devices to sell Best Buy products.
  • Interfacing with customers was the main duty, along with the appropriate handling rude or angry customers, as well as maximizing sales of Best Buy’s electronic goods and services.
  • Variety of duties included restocking products, laser-lining products, interfacing with cash registers, standing for long periods of time, knowing weekly ad for special deals to use in sales.
